Jameela jamil is leading an important fight against compulsory femininity, skinnyteas, beauty standards, filters, makeup, and cosmetic surgey, whitewashing, shaving, ableism, fat shaming, racism, transphobia, and the superficial world we live in rn, etc. but she’s not perfect, she will not “save us all”. and when she does something wrong, which she has and eventually will again, like the rest of us, please remember that she’s a person not a Goddess. and again, praise ideas, not people
I think it’s okay - and even sometimes important - to praise people who are doing good and important work, and acknowledge their contributions. But praising and idealizing are two different things. You can acknowledge that a person has good qualities or is doing things you admire without thinking they’re perfect, or thinking they will never mess up (as everyone inevitably does). The important thing is just to not put them up on a pedestal, IMO.
Sarah aynn: “no one understands me I hate you Mom for making us move out here in the middle of no where there’s not even cute boys” *runs away and finds mysterious farm*
Old man wilkinson: “this right here lil lady is a hourisey if yer can tame t it’s yoires if not it’s goin back to the horse factory”

Old man wonka: “why I don’t believe it she done tamed ol’ misery I reckon she ought to sign her up for the horuse show and save the farm”
*cut scene of Sarah sneaking out the house to ride her horse everyday until her mom finds out*
Mom: “young lady you are GROUNDED!!!! You are not allowed to compete in the horse show”
Staryah: “no Mom please” *runs away and almost gets hit by car but then the horse pushes the car out the way"
Mom: “fucjkfidnb maybe that’s a good horse after all”
Q: You had a photoshoot with Spin where you started chanting, “There’s no hope for women.” Can you talk about that? Because it still feels that way.
It’s not that way. It’s especially not that way now. And especially in the music business, there’s lots of really, really wonderful musicians and – look at my fucking t-shirt, man! Look at us, standing up! Look at us! We’re gonna be fine. We’re gonna be fine. There’s fuckin’ hope. There’s always hope for women. We are hope. We are the hope in the world. We are. Yes.
I don’t feel like that anymore. I was a kid. It was a strange situation. I felt really uncomfortable, as I did in many, many photoshoots and many videos and everything like that, and someone caught me muttering that to myself. It was just a hateful kind of – not hateful, but just a really depressed kind of thing that somebody heard me say, and it’s lived on forever. But it’s not true. There’s hope.
